It can be expensive to travel to other countries. I just booked a few flights, and my wallet is crying. But wouldn’t you rather save the emotions for yourself, and still get to experience the ideas, motivations and messages of other cultures, right here in Toronto?
Enter Progress. You can check out a more extensive discussion about exactly what it is by clicking here – but all you need to know is that a number of extremely innovative international shows are coming to Toronto this week, and you can see all of them for very, very cheap – some shows are even free! All it takes is a short trip to The Theatre Centre out on Queen West, where all of the shows are playing. But act fast – performances start on Wednesday, run until February 15th, and tickets are going fast!
All in all, you really won’t want to miss Progress!
So check out their website for scheduling and ticket info, and go see some Cheap Theatre!
Live Shows For $25 or Less
Some people don’t like going to theatre because it’s more expensive than the movies. Or so they think. Pshaw, I say to that. Tickets to all of these shows are available for $25 or less. So would you rather go see some big, very loud IMAX movie (that your would probably enjoy more at home, where you can talk over it) or some real, live theatre? I mean, look at how many cool shows there are this week!

There’s something special about catching a show for the few days that it’s playing. Sure, there are shows that play for months, if not years – but isn’t it nice knowing that you’re one of the few people who get to see a particular production? This week’s Cheap Theatre listing contains a variety of shows that have short runs. They all cost $25 or less per ticket, so, that’s even more of a reason for you to catch them while you can!

It’s cold. It’s really, really, cold. But hey, we live in Canada – if we never went out when it was cold, we’d never go anywhere. Except for the summer. But hush. In any case, if you want to get out of the house to see some Cheap Theatre, these are some shows playing in Toronto this week for $22 or less per ticket. There’s opera, there’s dance, there’s puppets, there’s Into The Woods, and there’s Chekov! What more could you ask for?

If you’re a fan of the Toronto Fringe Festival, or small, indie theatre in general, then do yourself a favour, and check out Fringe’s Next Stage Theatre Festival, which kicks off this Thursday! For this week’s Cheap Theatre listing, I’ve highlighted five of the shows that I’m really excited about (particularly Snack Music, created by the same folks behind Kitt and Jane, one of my favourite shows from last year’s Fringe). You can see each show for $15, or get a pass for several shows, and save even more! For ticket purchases, and to see schedules, and all the other shows playing, check out the Toronto Fringe website!
